More Needed Rain On The Way Tonight Through Thanksgiving Monday

An Alberta clipper system now over Northern Saskatchewan will track southwards into Southern Manitoba overnight and through Monday bringing another round of much needed moisture over the region.

Rain from this system will spread into parts of Western Manitoba this evening and it should reach the Red River Valley and Eastern Manitoba overnight, the systems speed will slow tomorrow leaving us with rainy conditions through Monday. Rain will change over to snow over higher elevations of West MB Monday with some amounts likely over the Duck Mountain Provincial Park and Riding Mountain National Park regions. Rainfall amounts of 10 to about 20mm will be possible through much of Southern Manitoba for those needing significant rain it will be an influence through from Western Manitoba as far East as Winnipeg and the Red River Valley. By Monday Night colder reinforcing air coming in from behind the system will allow a change over from rain to wet snow, even in regions of the Red River Valley with a coating of wet snow possible by the morning hours on Tuesday. Below Normal Temperatures in the single digits will join along this week, before warmer (moderating temperatures) next week.

  1. Rain Is now making a move southwards and slowly moving east towards the Red River valley, it is currently impacting the Parklands and Western Manitoba. Expect things to increase in coverage overnight through the day Monday as the system starts intensifying a smidge. From Tonight into tomorrow night I would expect rainfall amounts to vary between 10 and 20mm, as mentioned in the post. Snow will also be likely overnight into Tuesday with <5cm at most, remember considering the cool weather tonight snow mixing in with rain will be possible in higher elevations. I will have a look at models tomorrow sometime and see what will likely occur. By the way this system won't be significant compared to our winter storm we had last week.

  3. Looking through the night ahead I would expect to continue to see a band of rain slowly moving south through the Interlakes and Red River Valley including Winnipeg region. Models via @A Weather moment and spotwx suggest a changeover to rain and snow with this band later this evening or after midnight as the surface and upper level temperatures cool. Accumulations will be very small <2cm as most of the snow will melt on contact, however there may be some snowy spots on your grass or cars when you wake up in the morning. Some lake effect snows off of lake winnipeg and lake manitoba will generate behind the band tomorrow morning through the afternoon leaving areas in the red river valley at threat for snowfall, before conditions clear.

Yes Im not forgetting The Western Parts of the province, you will be in for rain and snow tonight as the system slides south. There could be some accumulating snows in the higher elevations of Riding Mountain National Park, nothing significant nonetheless 5cm will be possible. The lucky thing for you guys are the fact that you will be staying out of the heavy flurries/snow showers coming off of the lakes tomorrow morning leaving clearing skies and warmer temperatures for the day ahead. Lucky compared to the rest of the South where snow and rain will be ongoing throughout the day.

Have a Great Week Everyone! New Post Coming on Wednesday Evening!
