Southern Manitoba has been in a below normal, to near normal temperature pattern as forecasted earlier this week, that looks to continue into the weekend I also have some good news find out read on more to find out what that is.
Friday night: Southern Manitoba will be on the edge of an area of high-pressure that will be departing and moving into Minnesota, during the overnight hours. As this moves east , a south easterly flow will be taking place despite this along with a lack of cloudcover and clear skies overnight our temperatures will drop significantly overnight . A majority of southern regions of Manitoba will see low temperatures in the low to mid minus double digits (-10 to -15C) with areas in the extreme south and southeast dropping into the high minus single digits (-6 to -10C). Windchills will be in the (-12 to -19C range), warmer towards the border . Winnipeg: Clear, low -10C, windchill -16C. Brandon: Clear, low -13C , windchill -14C.
Saturday: The majority of southern Manitoba can expect temperatures to rise into the minus single digits (-1 to -7C) during the daytime as a southerly flow comes into the province of Manitoba as a warm front lifts north, some cloudy skies are possible in south western portions of Manitoba throughout the afternoon. Winnipeg: Partly cloudy high temperature -2°C, Brandon: cloudy to partly cloudy in the afternoon high temperature -3°C.
Saturday night: Area of low pressure that I mentioned earlier will be moving through in the evening hours, a secondary cold front will be moving through towards the early morning hours. Partly cloudy skies are expected as the trough of low pressure moves through overnight. There may be an area of snow which moves through central and south eastern portion of Manitoba in the Interlakes region, there could also be some flurries in the red valley region. Temperatures for overnight on Saturday, drop into the high minus single digits and low minus double digits. (-7 to -12C.) Windchills will be in the low minus double digits to mid minus double digits. Winnipeg: Clear, then cloudy with a chance for flurries. Low -10 Celsius, windchill -13°C, Brandon: Partly cloudy low temperature -9°C, windchill -16°C.
Sunday: A arctic cold front will be moving through in the morning hours followed by an area of high-pressure that will be settling over northern Manitoba. On the southern edge expects cloudy skies for the majority of the day the only areas that may not see cloud cover are in Interlakes regions and in the parklands regions by the latter half of the day. Temperatures for the majority of the region will be in the low to mid minus single digits between -4°C and -10°C. The only factor will be windchill’s which will feel colder than on Saturday. Temperatures in terms of windchill will be in the low minus double digits (-10 to -12C) colder towards the interlakes. Winnipeg: Cloudy, high temperature -4°C, windchill -10°C. Brandon: cloudy, High temperature -5°C, windchill -10°C.
Sunday night: Southern Manitoba will be on the edge of an area of high-pressure still on the northern side of a cold front. Mainly cloudy skies can be expected in southwestern sections of Manitoba with partly cloudy to clear skies in the south eastern section of Manitoba . Basically this means with limited cloud cover in the southeastern sections of Manitoba temperatures, will drop into the low to mid minus double digits (-10 to -14C). Areas in the south western portion of Manitoba will only see temperatures drop in the high minus single digits to near -10°C. (-7 to -10C). For windchill’s they will be dropping into the mid to high minus double digits and areas closer towards the lakes especially Lake Manitoba will see windchill values approaching -20°C. Areas that will see that will be portage Laprairie Dauphin and Gimli. Winnipeg: Partly cloudy low -10°C, windchill -15°C. Brandon: Partly cloudy, Low -10°C, windchill -16°C.
Monday into next week: the majority of the week next week looks to be a bit warmer here’s the good news it looks like that area of Arctic high-pressure that settled over the provinces on the weekend will be moving back into Ontario. As well as that small of chunk polar vortex will revert back into the Arctic. As a result the majority of southern Manitoba will see high temperatures in the mid to low minus single digits, and possibly getting above zero quite a few times. There may also be a few chances for snow as there will be some low pressure systems moving through along the westerly flow in the jet stream.
