Seasonable condition with a chance of showers and thunderstorms

Southern regions of Manitoba will be getting into a unseasonably cool pattern as we head into the end of the weekend.

(Above: Showers and thunderstorms look to affect southern Manitoba late on Saturday afternoon and evening, there is a chance for some to become severe. However that risk is only a 20% chance).

Saturday: will start off partly to mostly cloudy, with sunny skies by afternoon ,along with a southerly wind. However increasing amounts of instability is expected ahead of an area of low pressure that will move into the southwest part of Manitoba, as a result there is a possible of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours. There is a possibility some of the storms might get close to severe limits. If they do expect penny size hail and strong wind gusts. Heavy rainfall is possible as well, however I’m leaning more towards non severe storms . As for high temperatures a majority of the region will see highs in the high teens to low 20’s (17-24C), the warmer weather will be in the southeast areas by the lakes will see the cooler temperatures. Brandon: 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, High 21C. Winnipeg: 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms High 24C.

Saturday Night: The backside of the low will move into southern Manitoba bringing with it a chance for showers , and mainly cloudy skies . Winds will also shift out of the west. Overnight lows will drop into the high single digits to low teens (7-14C). Brandon: Cloudy , 40% chance of showers low 12C. Winnipeg: Cloudy, low 12C.

Sunday : I’m expecting mainly cloudy skies  to dominate the day for Sunday. Expect winds to shift to the NW as the area of low pressure moves east into Ontario. The good news is that there won’t be any more rain as the low moves east, the only thing is that temperatures will not warm much due to higher amounts of cloud cover. So high temperatures on Sunday will hit the high teens then drop into the mid teens by  afternoon as a cold front drops south. Winnipeg: Cloudy high 16C dropping to 14C by evening. Brandon: Cloudy , high 14C dropping to 12C by evening.

Sunday Night: There will be a chance for showers off the lakes as cold air moves in from the north. Brandon: Cloudy low 3C. Winnipeg: Cloudy low 7C.

The beginning of the week: Brings a chance for showers on Monday and sunny skies the rest of the first half of the week , high temperatures in the low to mid teens with overnight lows in the single digits.
