Warm and Pleasant Weather ahead with a 2nd Round of Summer weather possible!!

Southern Manitoba will be getting into a few days of above normal temperatures, as a ridge starts building over the prairie provinces. It looks like summer will return for a second round possibly in the long range read on to find out more at the end of the blog post!

Beautiful weather expected for the day Saturday, highs in the mid teens to low 20’s enjoy!!

Tonight : Expect clear to partly cloudy skies with cloudy skies expected in SE MB, near the American border.  Low temperatures will drop into the high single digits to low teens (5 to 14C). The colder overnight lows are expected in the southwest portion of Manitoba. Brandon: Clear low 8C, Winnipeg: Partly cloudy low 12C.

Saturday: Will be one of the warmest days of the weekend. I’m expecting a cold front to move through the Manitoba escarpment and the red river valley into Ontario shortly before noon. Little to no precipitation is expected with its passage . As a result a mix of sun and cloud with partly cloudy skies expected for the day , there may be a odd pop up isolated shower or thunderstorm in the parklands region by Swan River. Of note the winds will shift to the NW in the late morning and afternoon hours. High temperatures will soar into the high teens to low 20’s for a majority of the south , (17C to 23C). Winnipeg: Partly cloudy high 22C, Brandon: Partly cloudy high 18C.

Saturday Night: Expect increasing clouds with a chance for showers overnight into Sunday morning . I’m not expecting much in the way of rain, generally a trace to 5mm. Otherwise expect mainly cloudy skies in the overnight hours, with the exception of the interlake regions where clear to partly cloudy skies expected. Overnight lows on Saturday night are expected to drop into the high single digits to the low teens (7 to 12C). I know it’s not as warm as what we are used to , however the good news is that no frost is expected. Winnipeg: Increasing cloud 40% chance of showers overnight, low  10C. Brandon: Mostly Cloudy, 30% chance of showers in the evening and after midnight low 7C.

Sunday: Will be one of the cooler days of the weekend behind the large cold front moving into the northern plains, following behind it an area of arctic high pressure will move southwards bringing a cool northerly wind. Sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected for the day on Saturday. As a result temperatures will not surpass the 20C mark compared to Saturday, I’m expecting high temperatures to rise into the mid to high teens (13-18C). Winnipeg: Sunny, high 18C, Brandon: Partly cloudy high 16C.

Sunday Night: The ridge will start building in from the west allowing for clouds to stream in from the NW, making for clear to partly cloudy skies for the night. Overnight lows will drop into the mid to high single digits across the south (4-9C), even colder in the interlakes in the low single digits (2-5C). Winnipeg: Partly cloudy, low 7C. Brandon: Partly cloudy, low 4C.

Monday: A ridge will establish itself over the Canadian prairie provinces on Monday , with central Manitoba being on the northern periphery of the ridge. There will likely be partly to mostly cloudy skies in the interlakes resulting in temperatures from (18-21C). Sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected in the southern half of the province. There will also be a chance for thunderstorms, starting in the afternoon in the SW moving into the SE by late evening. Will have to watch further model updates as there may be a risk severe severe thunderstorms during Monday and Monday night . This will be the start to a warm week as high temperatures soar into the low to mid 20’s (20-25C). Winnipeg: Partly cloudy chance of a late afternoon thunderstorm high 24C. Brandon partly cloudy, risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon. High 23C.

The rest of the Week: looks like there may be a chance for showers or thunderstorms on a few days. High temperatures will continue to be in the low to high teens fluctuating wildly day to day, some days during the week may reach 20°C and overnight lows dropping into the single digits. Drum Roll!!!! Summer might return for a 2nd round heading into the last part of the week with a arrival of temperatures above 20C possibly reaching summer time values as warm as 25+C.
