Unseasonably Cool Weather with frost likely.

A cool and unseasonably below temperature pattern is expected to impact a large majority of southern Manitoba, over the coming days as a large area of high pressure sinks south into the region . Read on to find out how cold it will get.

Large area of high pressure will impact southern Manitoba over the coming days. Bringing in the likelihood of frost and cooler than average temperatures before it slides east on Friday evening.

Wednesday Night: A large area of temperatures in the mid to low single digits are expected tonight as area of high pressure builds into the region . This will give a major risk for frost, overnight. Expect partly cloudy to clear skies and some clouds to travel south from the parklands into the morning hours . Winnipeg: Clear skies frost likely, low 3C. Brandon: Partly cloudy frost likely. Low 2C. Winds will be light out of the NW.

Thursday: Will be a cool day as well, expect partly cloudy skies in the morning with mostly sunny skies in the afternoon only in the southeast and cloud in the southeast. I’m expecting a northwesterly wind, which will hinder temperatures from warming too much. As a result temperatures may not surpass the 20C mark , instead they will only reach the low to mid teens (11-15C).  Winnipeg: Partly Cloudy in the morning with mainly sunny skies in the afternoon high 14C, Brandon: Cloudy, high 10C.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy skies are expected for the night with winds out of the northwest. As a area of high pressure sits over the province a likelihood of frost will once again happen. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the low to mid single digits (2 to 5C). Make sure to cover up those plants!! Winnipeg: Clear, low 2C. Brandon: Clear low 4C.

Friday: Will be one of the warmer days of the week before a transition occurs into the weekend. Partly cloudy skies are expected for the day. High temperatures will soar into the mid to high teens (11-20C) . A few areas may surpass 20C. Winds will also be out of the NW. Winnipeg: Sunny, high 16C. Brandon : Sunny, high 19C.

Friday Night: Mainly clear skies are expected, there will be a chance for fog to develop in the Red River Valley. Frost will be less likely. Low temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to high single digits. Winnipeg: Clear, low 7C. Brandon: Clear, low 5C.

Saturday: Expect Sunny skies and winds to shift to the southwest. High temperatures will soar into the low 20’s, if smoke doesn’t filter in. Of note will be the potential for forest fire smoke from California and the southwestern states to filter in the province at upper levels. If this happens temperatures will only reach the mid to high teens. Winnipeg: 18-22C, Sunny or Hazy Skies Brandon: 17-23C. Sunny or hazy skies.

For the remainder of the weekend: There will be a low pressure system or 2 moving through the region with a chance of showers and or thunderstorms. High temperatures will be dependent on the smoke filtering in at upper levels if that happens there won’t be much allowance of temperatures to warm. If that happens there won’t be much heat to allow for thunderstorms to form on Sunday or Monday. Will keep you updated!!
