Unstable Friday , then pleasant weekend ahead.

As the weather has been fairly nice lately here in Manitoba we can always expect the unexpected, the day for Friday we’ll be expecting a area of low pressure to move into southern Manitoba from Wyoming. Ahead of the low , winds will be out of the south to the southwest . As the area of low pressure moves into Manitoba by mid afternoon expect a area of showers and thunderstorms to develop in a scattered form across southern regions . At the moment it looks like there is a possibility that there could be a slight chance of severe thunderstorms in the Red River Valley (With CAPE of 1,000 J/Kg.) if there is no rain showers in the afternoon hours ahead of the cold front . Only one model is suggesting this at the moment and that is the 12am RAP. All the other weather models that Ive looked at are suggesting a possiblity of non severe thunderstorms. So general consensus is that there will be a chance for non severe thunderstorms and if conditions present themselves to provide for severe thunderstorms I’ll post a update in the comments section . Showers and or thunderstorms look to exit the province of Manitoba by the mid to late evening hours . High temperatures on the day Friday will be in the 15-22C range in (southeast/southcentral) and 15-19C in the Southwest . A high of 18C is expected for Brandon and a high of 21C is expected for Winnipeg .

Friday Overnight showers will continue for a few localities winds will shift to the west overnight as a cool pacific flow takes place behind the front overnight lows will drop to plus 7 in Brandon and Plus 5 in Winnipeg . Low temperatures for the rest of the south will be in the 3 to 8C range.

The day on Saturday will be pleasant with  as the area of low pressure that affected the province moves into Northern Ontario. Clear to partly cloudy skies will dominate the conditions for the day , as you head up highway 6 and highway 59 and number 10 towards the lakes there could be more clouds than sun during the day. Winds will be out of the WNW for most of the day . High temperatures of 15C can be expected for Winnipeg and 13C for Brandon.

Overnight on Saturday, there will be a blast of arctic air entering the southern regions with overnight lows possibly reaching minus five in a few rural regions in the parklands and interlakes. I wouldn’t be surprised if we woke up to a few patches of frost in some regions closer to the Manitoba lakes . Temperatures for Winnipeg will drop to plus 1C, and for Brandon a low of -1C is expected . Elsewhere low temperatures will drop between plus 2 and minus 3 degrees Celsius .

The day on Sunday will be exceptionally beautiful with sunny skies and light winds out of the north, northwest. High temperatures will not be as warm as the average , with highs only reaching between 9 and 12C. For Winnipeg a high of 12C is expected and for Brandon a high of 10C.

Winds will shift to the west on Sunday night with increasing clouds and light showers expected , overnight lows will be between 2 and 5C for Southern Manitoba. With temperatures in Winnipeg dipping to 2C and to 4C in Brandon . Temperatures well below the normal for this time of year.

For the beginning of the week next week looks like we may have cooler than average temperatures and a gradual warmup to midweek with a few low pressure systems expected to move through the region by the end of the week.
