Winter Refuses to leave, Light at the end of the tunnel?

Long Wave Trough centered over Manitoba stretching from Alberta to Ontario. This will be the culprit of our cooler than Normal Weather for the next few days.

Southern Manitoba will continue to be locked in a continued cold pattern with temperatures well below normal, behind a large upper trough with a persistent northerly flow in place. This trough will stretch from as far East as eastern Canada in Quebec and west towards Alberta. This feature will be a big influencer on our weather this week.

The day Monday will start fairly to partly cloudy for some sections of the southern portion of the province, a few areas may have some left over flurries from early
Monday Morning. Cloud cover will increase in the afternoon, with scattered flurries occurring from the Manitoba lakes and in some localized regions. There may be some snow squalls  near or off the lakes in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures won't budge much for the day with high temperatures only reaching -3 to -5C. Central regions of the province will be in the minus 10 to 12 degree Celsius for the day .

Monday Night
Winds should be light out of the North, scattered cloud cover will affect many regions of the southern portion of the province. Overnight lows will drop into the minus 10 to minus 13 Celsius range. Windchills expected to be from minus 15 to minus 19. There will be some pop up flurries in some localized regions overnight into Tuesday.

Tuesday...
The day should start sunny, clouds will increase throughout the day. Some sunny breaks may occur at times in the afternoon. There will be a small  chance of flurries for some areas. High temperatures will be from minus 2 to minus 5 across the region. Winds will be light from the NW.

Tuesday Night
As we head into the night Tuesday, skies will be clear with a few to scattered clouds expected. Overnight lows will drop into the minus 7 to minus 13
Celsius range , winds will be out of the NW overnight.

Wednesday: Will be a transition day,  winds will finally switch to the west with some areas experiencing SW winds closer to the American border. As a result temperatures will rise into the low to mid single digits (1 to 4C). The reverse will be the case for central and northern regions of Manitoba as the warm air will only retreat into the interlakes (-5 to 9C). Cloud cover will be minimal with mostly sunny skies.

Good news as we get into the end of the week there is a chance of warmer weather shifting into our region with more spring like temperatures occurring into the weekend and the following week.  Highs will likely be in the mid to high single digits to low double digits. (3 to 12C).

We will keep you updated!
