Spring temperatures slowly arriving, this week.

Southern Manitoba has been locked in a persistent cooler than normal pattern for the past couple weeks. That looks to change this week. Read on to find out more !

An area of low pressure centred in Central Saskatchewan will bring a swath of snow into southern and central portions of Manitoba on Tuesday morning and afternoon. A max of 5cm expected as it moves through . Warmer weather will arrive on Wednesday.

The day on Monday southern Manitoba will be in the wake of a area of low pressure , the day should start cloudy with a chance of flurries in western regions and then throughout the day you should see some clouds blend in with sun .Much of the day winds will be from the NW and model consensus has been showing a area of flurries or showers will develop in the interlakes and move SE there’s potential for some convective (lightning) activity in the cells to develop.  Most of the snow should melt on contact. Expect the flurries to taper off into the late evening hours. Temperatures on Monday will be from 1 to 7C for most .. High in Brandon plus 5C, high in Winnipeg 3C.

Monday night expect clearing skies and winds out of the north west at 10-20 km an hour.  Monday Night -5C in Winnipeg ,
-3C in Brandon.

The day on Tuesday will likely bring overcast skies. A warm front looks across the province with an area of snow moving it into the central region and parts of the southern portion of the province especially from the Riding Mountains into the Red River Valley eastwards . The good news is that winds will be out of the south so there will not be any brutally cold wind gusts associated with the snowfall . There may be some accumulations depending if snow melts on contact . High temperatures will be anywhere between 2 and 12 Celsius. Forecast 12C in Brandon , 3C in Winnipeg.

The winds in the evening will shift to the West allowing for the temperatures to moderate overnight, they will likely shift to the north overnights into the early morning hours on Wednesday. Expect mostly cloudy skies from the riding mountains into the red river valley and clear skies in the south west portion of the province. Cloud cover will increase in the morning hours. Overnight lows are expected to be between 0° and -5 Celsius.  0C in Brandon,  -3 in Winnipeg for overnight temperatures on Tuesday  .

The middle to end of the week should be fairly pleasant , all as a ridge of high pressure builds into the Prairie provinces. As winds shift to the south, temperatures will rise into the low to mid double digits. Spring has Sprung !! Looks like the Ground hog was wrong , We didn’t have a early spring . ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£
