Building Ridge to Bring Warmer Weather

A large ridge of high-pressure will be building off the West Coast and will gradually shift east with areas of low pressure travelling north of the Ridge. A building ridge will allow for our temperatures to finally reach the twenties! Yes you heard that right 20 Degrees!

Southern Manitoba is going to be transitioning out of a cooler than normal pattern that we’ve experienced in the past month and a half . The only catch is that is that we will not be getting a lot of humidity coming into the province until the middle of the week next week. Until then  looks to be fairly dry for dewpoints only staying in the Zero to 12C range.

The night ahead tonight winds will shift to the east.  Expect our temperatures to be warmer than average with overnight lows dropping between five and 10°C for much of southern Manitoba with a few areas possibly dipping closer to the 1 to 3 celcius mark. There may be a few showers in the Interlake region overnight maybe a few rumbles of thunder also.

Expect mainly clear to partly cloudy skies over night with some heavier cloud in the Interlake region. Manitoba will be fairly lucky as a stronger system will be bypassing us to the northern plains particularly in North Dakota and South Dakota.

On the day Saturday should be a fairly sunny day there may be a couple clouds are that develop in the afternoon with a couple of  cloud patches. Wind will shift gradually throughout the day to the south high temperatures on the day Saturday are expected to be in the high teens to mid 20C range. Winnipeg expect a high temperature of 23°C, and for the city of Brandon expect a high temperature of 22 Celsius. All thanks to the presence of high pressure continues to build into the province.

On Saturday night low temperatures will drop into the mid to high single digits range. With some forested areas in the white shell and in northern and central regions of the province may see temperatures drop into the 10 to 12°C range. Overnight low for Brandon expect a temperature of 7°C and for the city of Winnipeg expect a low of 9°C. The winds will be lights out of the south overnights which should keep temperatures fairly mild for much of the province.

Those looking for warm temperatures Sunday is your day, High temperatures look to reach the low to mid 20s or even warmer 25-26C where the red is. Thanks to the warm southerly flow expected, you can look at the wind barbs the feathered ends so where the wind is coming from and the ends with the small dots tell where the wind is going.
For those who are looking for the warmest temperatures of the year so far Sunday looks to be that day! High temperatures will be in the Low to mid 20°C range. For Winnipeg you can expect a temperature of 24C and for Brandon expect a high temperature of 23C. The winds also will be out of the south so should help fuel our temperatures to be above seasonal . Also 500 MB height winds for the day on Sunday will be out of the south, which shows a strong flow of warm southerly air coming in to the Province.

One more thing to note this week is that our overnight lows will be warming up. Much of the province on Sunday night will be in the 7 to 12C range. Low of 11C for Winnipeg, and a low of 12C for Brandon.  That means warm overnight lows and a very low risk frost. As cloud cover increases on Sunday night it,  will keep the temperatures warmer than normal.

The week ahead looks to be well above average high temperatures will be in the mid to high 20° range for much of the week. The winds also will be out of the south and increasing moisture coming into the province, I already see dewpoints approaching the province that are in the 12 to 18C range that are situated in Saskatchewan for the beginning of the week. Justin and I are monitoring the possibilities for showers or thundershowers but looks like a small chance for the middle of the week.

Rain and moisture arriving for the second Half of the Week.

Southern regions of the province have been experiencing Rain this afternoon expect that to continue tonight into tomorrow before warmer weather arrives for later this week.

A area of low pressure will be entering southern Manitoba Wednesday with expecting 5 to 10 mm of rain some areas in southern extreme portions may pick up 15 mm. As a result of the increased cloud cover and the rain temperatures will not rise that much.

Highs for the southern regions of the province will be between five and 10 Celsius . If you’re in an area closer to the lake And some forested areas in southern regions of the province temperatures may only be between zero and five celsius.  In general I would lean to temperatures being more above 5° for much of the region. Good news as the winds will be out of the south so there will not be much of a cold wind, the wind will be quite mild. High temperature for Winnipeg 9°, High temperature for Brandon 11°.

For Wednesday night expect rain to end around suppertime in the west and in the east around 9 PM to midnight . Expect reduced amounts of cloud cover, with the possibility of broken clouds into early Thursday. The winds will be out of the west to northwest. Overnight lows will be between 0 to 5 Celsius overnight. For Winnipeg low of 4°, for Brandon low of +1°.

For Thursday a weak area of low pressure will move through the southern portions of the province. Expect highs between 10 and 15 Celsius in the Red  River Valley and 15 to twenty celcius SW MB. Thursday expect a mix of sun and cloud with some broken clouds throughout the day. Also there will be a chance for off and on showers mainly in south eastern portions of the province. Expect showers to clear the province by mid afternoon. Winds will be out of the W to NW for much of the day on Thursday. Expect a high of 16° for Brandon,  and 15° for Winnipeg.

On Thursday night expect clearing, as a cold front dives south into southern Manitoba winds will shift overnight, to the north . Overnight except lows between zero and five Celsius. Expect a low of +3 for Winnipeg and a low of 0° for Brandon.

Friday expect high temperatures to be in the 15 to 20° range celcius for those who are in extreme southern Manitoba. Those areas are along the border up to the highway two or three corridor. Then expect temperatures to be in the 10 to 15 celsius range for those along the trans Canada and for much of southern Manitoba. Winds will be out of the north to Northeast for most of the day. For Brandon on Friday expect a high of 18° and for Winnipeg expect a high of 14°.

Signs are as we head into the weekend a upper level ridge will build into the northern plains allowing for warmer than normal temperatures to filter into the province with high temperatures likely exceeding the 20° Mark, and also allowing for more summer like temperatures to finally appear in the region.

Quick blast of cold temps gives way to warmer spring weather

Southern Manitoba will be exceptionally cooler than normal beginning this week. As a area of high pressure gradually drives south and east into North Dakota, then eventually into Ontario.

Arctic area of high Pressure over the province is going to be keeping our temperatures, A little cooler than average this time of year.

Monday expect below normal temperatures with highs expected between 5 and 10Celcius. For Winnipeg expect a high of 7C. Brandon a high of 6C. We are still under the influence of a area of high pressure. Winds will be out of the north to Northwest.  Overnight expect cooler than normal conditions to come to the province with overnight lows between zero and -8 Celsius. Brandon a low of minus 2 can be expected.

For the day on Tuesday should be a much better day winds will still be light out of the northwest expect high temperatures to be between 5 to 15 Celsius in the afternoon. 10 Celsius for Brandon , and a high of 11C for Winnipeg. Expect a mix of sun and cloud during the day .

Tuesday night expect overnight lows to drop between  +1 to +7.  A low of plus one is expected for Brandon and a low of 2 Celsius is expected for Winnipeg . There will also be increasing clouds on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Rain associated with a area of low pressure  in  southwestern Manitoba will spread north and east through out the night .

Wednesday will be a different  day with some showers possible in the afternoon along with another area of low pressure. Expect between five and 15 mm of rain . High temperatures will be Between five and nine Celsius. With a high of eight Celsius for Winnipeg and a high of six for Brandon. Expect gradual clearing overnight with most of the rain clearing the Southwest by the mid to late evening

As we get into the rest of the week it looks like we are going to Finally be able to experience temperatures in the mid to high double digits as a large southerly flow takes stage . I’m forecasting that some areas may see temperatures within and near the 20° mark.  There also will be a chance for showers and thunderstorms as we near the end of the week.

Cooler than average spring weather ahead

Southern Manitoba can expect a pretty pleasant rest of the week with fairly sunny skies and below seasonal temperatures.

Southern Manitoba I will be seeing well below normal daytime high temperatures highs only in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s which translates to the high single digits for daytime highs and overnight lows a couple degrees below zero.

Southern Manitoba tonight will be exceptionally cooler than normal as a area of High Pressure and arctic air sits in northern Manitoba.  As a result winds will be light out of the North tonight.  With clear skies expect temperatures to drop below zero for most there may be a few areas that stay above zero but for the most expect temperatures to drop into minus single digits I’m expecting the temperature range between somewhere between -7 and -2 Celsius.  My forecast low temperatures.  Wednesday Night Brandon -2C Winnipeg -2C.
There will be a risk for frost overnight tonight into the morning so if you have plants it’s best to cover them to prevent them from being affected by the possible freeze.

Early Thursday should start fairly cold temperatures will only be slightly or a couple of degrees above zero with winds out of the north for most of the day temperatures will not budge much but will not be as cold as the northern portion of the province which will be in the mid single digits to some mid minus double digits  in extreme northern portions of the province. Temperature will warm throughout the day for you in the north expect highs in the minus single digits for the day time meanwhile in the southern portion of province with winds out of the north highs will be anywhere between 5C and 12C. Hi temperature for the day on Thursday in Brandon should be about 10, For Winnipeg a high temperature will be about nine Celsius.

Thursday the winds will shift to the due North as a result cooler than average overnight lows can be expected especially as you go towards the Manitoba lakes with overnight lows they’re dropping to the -5 range further south you go towards Winnipeg and Brandon warmer temperatures will be the case. Overnight low for Winnipeg -2 and for Brandon an overnight low of -3 can be expected. There will still be a risk of frost Overnight into Friday morning.

For the day Friday should be fairly pleasant day it’ll be one of the more cooler days before the weekend arrives which I will talk about shortly.  If you’re in extreme south western portions, of the province into the parklands a couple areas may have a few more clouds and the rest of the province just high level clouds.  Still under the presence of high-pressure that is situated to the north temperatures will not be able to budge much with the north wind. Expect a high temperature on Friday to be similar to that of Thursday. The most part southern Manitoba will see temperatures between five and eight Celsius. High temperature of 8C is expected for Brandon and high temperature of only 6C is expected for Winnipeg.

Friday night expect clouds to increase as a area of low pressure moves into the region and mostly impacts North Dakota with some showers expected there. Overnight lows will drop into the Zero to -5C range. A low of -2 can be expected in Brandon. And -4 can be expected in Winnipeg.

The weekend will be one of the colder parts of our weather pattern coming up behind an area of low pressure that will be moving south into the Dakotas. A area of cooler than normal temperatures with freeze conditions at night can be expected into the weekend to start our week. General for the weekend expect your day time highs to be between 5 and 9 Celsius for Saturday and for Sunday between 4 and  7 Celsius. With colder temps for the overnight, lows will likely drop into the minus 2 to minus 8C range for most.

Unstable Friday , then pleasant weekend ahead.

As the weather has been fairly nice lately here in Manitoba we can always expect the unexpected, the day for Friday we’ll be expecting a area of low pressure to move into southern Manitoba from Wyoming. Ahead of the low , winds will be out of the south to the southwest . As the area of low pressure moves into Manitoba by mid afternoon expect a area of showers and thunderstorms to develop in a scattered form across southern regions . At the moment it looks like there is a possibility that there could be a slight chance of severe thunderstorms in the Red River Valley (With CAPE of 1,000 J/Kg.) if there is no rain showers in the afternoon hours ahead of the cold front . Only one model is suggesting this at the moment and that is the 12am RAP. All the other weather models that Ive looked at are suggesting a possiblity of non severe thunderstorms. So general consensus is that there will be a chance for non severe thunderstorms and if conditions present themselves to provide for severe thunderstorms I’ll post a update in the comments section . Showers and or thunderstorms look to exit the province of Manitoba by the mid to late evening hours . High temperatures on the day Friday will be in the 15-22C range in (southeast/southcentral) and 15-19C in the Southwest . A high of 18C is expected for Brandon and a high of 21C is expected for Winnipeg .

Friday Overnight showers will continue for a few localities winds will shift to the west overnight as a cool pacific flow takes place behind the front overnight lows will drop to plus 7 in Brandon and Plus 5 in Winnipeg . Low temperatures for the rest of the south will be in the 3 to 8C range.

The day on Saturday will be pleasant with  as the area of low pressure that affected the province moves into Northern Ontario. Clear to partly cloudy skies will dominate the conditions for the day , as you head up highway 6 and highway 59 and number 10 towards the lakes there could be more clouds than sun during the day. Winds will be out of the WNW for most of the day . High temperatures of 15C can be expected for Winnipeg and 13C for Brandon.

Overnight on Saturday, there will be a blast of arctic air entering the southern regions with overnight lows possibly reaching minus five in a few rural regions in the parklands and interlakes. I wouldn’t be surprised if we woke up to a few patches of frost in some regions closer to the Manitoba lakes . Temperatures for Winnipeg will drop to plus 1C, and for Brandon a low of -1C is expected . Elsewhere low temperatures will drop between plus 2 and minus 3 degrees Celsius .

The day on Sunday will be exceptionally beautiful with sunny skies and light winds out of the north, northwest. High temperatures will not be as warm as the average , with highs only reaching between 9 and 12C. For Winnipeg a high of 12C is expected and for Brandon a high of 10C.

Winds will shift to the west on Sunday night with increasing clouds and light showers expected , overnight lows will be between 2 and 5C for Southern Manitoba. With temperatures in Winnipeg dipping to 2C and to 4C in Brandon . Temperatures well below the normal for this time of year.

For the beginning of the week next week looks like we may have cooler than average temperatures and a gradual warmup to midweek with a few low pressure systems expected to move through the region by the end of the week.
