Unsettled weather returns with seasonal temperatures

Say goodbye to all the early season warmth this week ahead will resemble weather more typical of March, thanks to a westerly upper level flow returning and a few passing low pressure systems over southern Manitoba bringing more unsettled weather. Read on to Find out how cold it will get and what kind of weather we will get below.

A look at temperatures for the day on Monday, a bit cooler than what we’ve been used to. This pattern will stick after Tuesday’s brief warmup.

Monday: A area of high pressure will be sitting south of the border, while we sit on the western edge a southeasterly flow will be able to take place. Unfortunately it won’t be as nice that we have experienced of late. Cloudy skies are expected for regions of southwestern Manitoba into the inter lakes region, where sunny skies are expected through the day into southeastern Manitoba. Increasing cloud is expected as you head into the early evening and late evening and overnight throughout the rest of the south. The only exception will be extreme southwest and southeast area where clear skies are forecast. Daytime high temperatures will likely only sit in the low to high single digits (2 to 8C), with the warmest air along and north of the American border in extreme southern sections a few locations around the Manitoba lakes a bit colder. Overnight lows will drop into the minus single digits in the red river valley, and sections of southeastern Manitoba and the parklands regions . Elsewhere overnight lows will sit in the low single digits including the rest of southern Manitoba including the interlakes southwestern, southeastern, and the western parklands. Forecasts: Winnipeg: Sunny, high 6C. Brandon: Cloudy, high 7C. Dauphin: Cloudy high 5C. Overnight: Winnipeg: Cloudy, low 0C. Brandon: Cloudy, low 1C. Dauphin: Cloudy, low 1C.

Tuesday: Oooo Sweet, Tuesday may be one of those toasty sun tanning days. No I’m not talking about those Florida beach days (seriously don’t put on your bathing suit or beach wear), I’m talking about a toasty not needing your heavy jacket days. Of course if you want you can wear your shorts if your one of those super cool risk takers. Thanks to a warm front which will be situated in Southwestern Manitoba during the afternoon hours will allow a southerly flow to establish itself, partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected in the afternoon hours. Little in the way of precipitation however is forecast for the day. Temperatures during the day will soar into the low teens (10 to 12C) with the possibility of seeing temperatures closer to (12 to 14C) in a few locations. The only exception being the inter lakes and the Parklands region of Manitoba with lows in the low to mid single digits (1 to 7C). A Low pressure system which is going to be a long the American border will gradually move south east into the evening. A band of rain or showers will likely form in south western Manitoba during the evening hours, as the temperatures drop into the overnight that may transition into flurries or light snow by the time it reaches the red river valley overnight it will likely weaken out into scattered or isolated flurries. Overnight lows will drop into The low to high minus single digits,(-2 to -9C). As usual the Interlake regions particularly along the Manitoba lakes will see temperatures closer to (-8C to -10C.) Forecasts: Winnipeg, Day: Partly Cloudy, high 13C. Night: Cloudy, 30% chance flurries. Low -3C Brandon, Day: Cloudy, 60% chance of showers high 7C.Night:  Dauphin, Day: Cloudy 60% chance of flurries or light snow. high 2C. Night: Cloudy, (low -8C)Ouch!.

Wednesday: During the day Wednesday a area of high pressure off in Northern Manitoba will bring a strong northerly flow southwards as it moves east, clear skies are expected for the day on Wednesday. The bad news about this is that it will limit our temperatures from rising the way they have been over the last week. Temperatures on the day Wednesday will be all over the place, places along and south of the Manitoba lakes will see temperatures in the low to mid single digits (0 to 5C). Areas north of Yellowhead Highway, and the #1 from Neepawa and Russell east through the Interlakes into the eastern part of Manitoba will see highs in the low minus single digits (0 to -3C). There will be increasing cloud towards the late evening into the overnight. Another system off in Saskatchewan will be creating another potential snowstorm for that province and region. However that looks to me as much of the province of Manitoba on Wednesday night will miss the snow. Temperatures for all of the southern Manitoba region will drop into the Low to high minus single digits (-3 to -9C). The warmest of the overnight lows will be in south eastern Manitoba. Winnipeg: Day, Sunny High 2C. Night: Cloudy, low -5C.  Brandon, Day: Sunny, high 2C. Night: Cloudy, low -7C. Dauphin, day Sunny high -2C. Night: Cloudy, low -9C.

Second half of the week: A Fairly unsettled second half of the week is expected, a few areas of low pressure will move through the region bring a chance for showers or flurries. There will also be continuing temperatures in the mid to high positive single digits (1 to 8C. Overnight lows will of course remain in the low to mid minus single digits (0 to -7C)
